VidDay vs Tribute, side by side.

Who wrote this, before anything else: videos.me, which makes a competing tool and is not in the comparison below. We are not going to tell you which of VidDay and Tribute to pick. Every figure here was read off their own pricing pages on the date stamped under the tables, and the totals are computed from those models rather than typed by hand.

VidDay and Tribute are the two best-known group video makers, and they meter the price the same way: by how long the finished film runs. That is where the similarity stops. VidDay starts at $5 for a film up to three minutes and climbs in steps to a $60 ceiling. Tribute starts at $35 and covers everything up to thirty minutes in that one price.

So which of them costs less depends entirely on how long your film turns out, and the crossover is not where most people would guess. The tables below are their own published prices, with every total computed rather than typed, and we do not tell you which to pick.

Both price by how long the finished film runs, so the number of people matters less than how long each of them talks. Computed from the published ladders, including the step a collection crosses by talking a few seconds longer.

What VidDay makes

  • The most editing: trimming, splitting, text cards, themes and a custom song builder.
  • Photos and text cards in the montage beside the video clips.
  • A $5 entry price for a short film, the lowest published in the category.
  • Annual memberships, for someone running several collections a year.

What Tribute makes

  • One price covering everything up to thirty minutes, with no step to cross.
  • Concierge editing at $99, where someone else assembles the film.
  • A physical Video Book on the $149 tier.
  • Eight million video messages sent, by their own published figure.

Where we fit, since you are on our site

We are a third option, and the honest reason to mention us on a page about the two of them is that we do not charge by length at all. videos.me prices by the videos you actually receive, so a film that runs long costs the same as a short one with the same number of clips, and nobody crosses a tier by talking for an extra ten seconds.

The other difference is when you find out. The whole loop, collect, compile, watch, share and download, works before any payment, so the question "what if only six people reply" gets answered before you have spent anything. We may be the better option for that reason or we may not: the arithmetic for every route, ours and theirs, is on our cost comparison page.
